PowerBook 12-Inch 1.33 GHz 2004

The PowerBook G4/1.33 12" packed a 1.33 GHz PowerPC 7447a (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" and 512k on-chip L2 cache. It included 256 MB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM and a 60 GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive (4200 RPM). Optical drive options were either a slot-loading 8X "Combo" drive or a 4X "SuperDrive." It came with built-in Bluetooth 1.1 and AirPort Extreme (802.11g). Graphics were handled by an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM, displayed on a 12.1" TFT XGA screen (1024x768) within its aluminum alloy case. Compared to its predecessor, the PowerBook G4/1.0 12" (DVI), this model was similar but featured a new logic board design that brought a faster processor, a faster system bus, faster RAM, and improved graphics.

This revision of the 12-inch PowerBook was praised for the noticeable speed bump to 1.33 GHz and the upgrade to 64 MB of video RAM, which addressed some of the performance critiques of its forerunner. Its compact and durable aluminum chassis continued to be a major selling point, making it an ideal travel companion. Users appreciated that it retained its status as the smallest Mac laptop while offering performance that was sufficient for most mainstream applications.
