PowerBook 15-Inch 1.67/1.5 2005

The PowerBook G4/1.67 15" was powered by a 1.67 GHz PowerPC 7447a (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" and 512k on-chip L2 cache. It included 512 MB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM, an 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive (5400 RPM), and a slot-loading 8X "SuperDrive." Connectivity was comprehensive with built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, AirPort Extreme (802.11g), and Firewire "400"/"800" ports. Its attractive aluminum alloy case housed a 15" widescreen TFT display (1280x854) and featured an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM. This model introduced several enhancements over its predecessor, including a faster processor, a brighter ambient light sensor keyboard, a more capable optical drive, a faster hard drive with "Sudden Motion Sensor" technology, a new "Scrolling Trackpad," and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. It was distinguished from the lower-end 1.5 GHz model by its faster processor and the inclusion of a "SuperDrive."

This model was widely regarded as the most powerful and refined 15-inch PowerBook to date. The 1.67 GHz processor, paired with a standard 5400 RPM hard drive, delivered the speed that professionals had been asking for, making it feel significantly faster in day-to-day use. [2, 23] The combination of the new Scrolling Trackpad, Sudden Motion Sensor, and a brighter backlit keyboard created a superior user experience that was frequently praised.
