AppleTV 4K 2017

Although it looks practically identical to the Apple TV (4th Gen) that came before it, at least from the front, the Apple TV 4K (2017, A10X, Black Siri Remote) has completely updated internals with support for 4K (2160p) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) movies when connected to a capable television.

This Apple TV 4K is powered by a three core Apple A10X Fusion processor, has 3 GB of RAM, and is offered with either 32 GB or 64 GB of internal flash memory storage.

Connectivity includes HDMI 2.0a, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac wireless networking as well as Bluetooth 5.0.

This was Apple's long-awaited entry into the 4K streaming market. The headline feature was its ability to output 4K resolution with HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision), which delivered a dramatic improvement in picture quality on compatible televisions. [5, 13] The A10X Fusion chip provided the necessary horsepower to handle the demanding high-resolution content smoothly. [2, 5] While it carried over the tvOS and App Store from its predecessor, the addition of 4K HDR support was the key selling point that finally brought the Apple TV into the modern era of television standards, making it a must-have for videophiles within the Apple ecosystem.
