The iPad Pro 12.9-Inch (Wi-Fi Only - 4th Gen) is equipped with a fully-laminated, antireflective 12.9" LED-backlit 2732x2048 "Liquid Retina" display (264 ppi, 600 nits). It is framed by a thin black bezel and housed in a slim case with rounded corners and flat sides, available in either silver or a darker "Space Gray" finish.

This iPad Pro is powered by an eight-core 2.5 GHz Apple A12Z Bionic processor, an "embedded M12 coprocessor," and a "Neural Engine" for machine learning and AR applications. It comes with 6 GB of RAM and is available with 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of flash storage.

Other key features include LiDAR and trackpad support via a new optional "Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro" and third-party devices. It also offers "Face ID" authentication and supports the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen (A2051, MU8F2AM/A, US$129), which charges magnetically. The device features three cameras: a 7-megapixel front-facing camera and a dual rear camera system (12-megapixel wide-angle and 10-megapixel ultra-wide-angle).

In addition to a USB-C port, connectivity includes dual-band 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) with HT80 with MIMO and Bluetooth 5.0. It also has five microphones and a four-speaker system.

The battery life is rated for up to 10 hours of "surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video."

Compared to its predecessor, this iPad Pro 12.9-Inch (Wi-Fi Only - 4th Gen) and its cellular-equipped siblings maintain the same physical dimensions, display, and similar internals, but add LiDAR support, an improved rear-camera system (with an ultra-wide-angle camera), faster Wi-Fi, better microphones, and increased entry-level storage.

The 4th generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro (Wi-Fi Only) was evaluated as a powerful and refined, yet iterative, update. The A12Z Bionic processor ensured it remained at the pinnacle of tablet performance, effortlessly handling professional creative software. The headline hardware additions were the new ultra-wide camera and the LiDAR scanner, which pointed towards future possibilities in photography and augmented reality. However, the most impactful change was the introduction of full trackpad support in iPadOS, which, when paired with the optional Magic Keyboard, significantly enhanced its capabilities as a productivity device. The ProMotion display remained a best-in-class feature, offering superb smoothness and responsiveness. For those new to the iPad Pro line or upgrading from a much older device, the 2020 model was a fantastic machine, though it didn't offer a compelling reason for 2018 Pro users to upgrade based on hardware alone.
