The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.2 15-Inch (Mid-2018 True Tone Display, Touch Bar, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) is driven by a 14 nm, 8th Generation "Coffee Lake" 2.2 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (8750H). It features six independent cores on a single chip, a 9 MB shared L3 cache, 16 GB of onboard 2400 MHz LPDDR4 SDRAM (upgradable to 32 GB only at purchase), and 256 GB of standard onboard flash storage. It also includes dual graphics processors: an AMD Radeon Pro 555X with 4 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory and an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 that shares system memory.

Externally, this notebook has a 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a slim, backlit "third generation" butterfly keyboard with an integrated "Touch Bar" that adapts to applications and provides Touch ID, and a large "Force Touch" trackpad. It also features a high-resolution 15.4-inch LED-backlit widescreen 2880x1800 (220 ppi, 500 nits) "Retina" display with True Tone technology, and an integrated battery with an estimated 10-hour runtime.

Available in silver or "Space Gray" aluminum, it weighs just over 4 pounds (1.83 kg). Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, four "Thunderbolt 3" ports (USB-C), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Compared to its predecessor, this model offers an improved display and keyboard, a more advanced processor and architecture, and the option for double the RAM and storage via custom configuration.

The Mid-2018 15-inch MacBook Pro represented a monumental leap in performance, being the first to feature a six-core Intel Core i7 processor. This made it significantly faster for pro-level workflows. It also introduced a display with True Tone technology, which was well-received for its ambient light adaptation. The third-generation butterfly keyboard was updated with a membrane to prevent debris ingress, a direct response to reliability complaints, though user opinions on the typing feel remained divided.
