The Apple MacBook Pro "M2" 8-Core CPU/10-Core GPU 13-Inch (2022) model is powered by a 5-nm 3.49 GHz Apple M2 processor with 8 cores (4 performance, 4 efficiency), a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It comes with 8 GB of onboard RAM and either a 256 GB or 512 GB onboard SSD as standard. Both RAM and SSD were only upgradable at the time of purchase.

Available in silver and "Space Gray," this notebook features an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam, high-dynamic-range stereo speakers, a "Magic Keyboard" with a custom "Touch Bar" featuring a separate Esc key and "Touch ID" sensor, and a large "Force Touch" trackpad.

Additionally, it has a high-resolution 13.3" widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi, 500 nits) LED-backlit "Retina" display with True Tone technology and a built-in battery that provides an estimated 17-20 hours of runtime.

Connectivity includes 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, two Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 ports (USB-C), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Compared to its predecessor, the "2022, M2" MacBook Pro is externally identical but features a more advanced internal processor architecture.

The 2022 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip was an unusual release, placing a newer processor into an aging chassis design. While the M2 chip provided a modest but noticeable performance increase over the M1, particularly in graphics and media engine tasks, the machine itself felt dated. It retained the controversial Touch Bar, had only two Thunderbolt ports, and lacked the MagSafe charging and superior Liquid Retina XDR display of its 14-inch and 16-inch cousins. Its primary advantage over the M2 MacBook Air was its active cooling system, which allowed for better-sustained performance under heavy, prolonged workloads. However, for many users, the more modern design and features of the other MacBook Pro models made this a difficult machine to recommend.
