The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.7 13-Inch (Mid-2018) is a custom-ordered version of the standard "Core i5" 2.3 13-Inch model from the same period, but it's also documented separately for convenience. Besides the processor and its corresponding L2 cache, these two models are identical.
This notebook is powered by a 14 nm, 8th Generation "Coffee Lake" 2.7 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (8559U). It features four independent processor "cores" on a single chip, 128 MB of eDRAM embedded on the processor die, and an 8 MB shared level 3 cache. The system also includes 8 GB of onboard 2133 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (upgradable to 16 GB at purchase, but not afterwards), either 256 GB or 512 GB of flash storage, and an integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 processor that shares memory with the system.
Externally, this notebook has an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam and a thin, backlit "third generation" butterfly mechanism keyboard. The keyboard includes an integrated "Touch Bar," a touch-sensitive control that adapts to applications and provides Touch ID login. A large "Force Touch" trackpad is also featured.
Additionally, it boasts a high-resolution 13.3" widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi, 500 nits) LED-backlit "Retina" display with True Tone technology and an integrated battery that provides an estimated 10 hours of runtime.
This model is offered in silver or a darker "Space Gray" aluminum housing and weighs slightly more than 3 pounds (1.37 kg).
Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, four "Thunderbolt 3" ports (USB-C connector), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Compared to its predecessor, this model features an improved display and keyboard, as well as a more advanced processor and architecture.
