iMac PowerPC 7445 (G4) 2002

The Apple iMac G4/800 17-Inch (Flat Panel) is equipped with an 800 MHz PowerPC 7445 (G4) processor, which includes the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and a 256k on-chip level 2 cache. It comes with 256 MB of RAM (PC133 SDRAM), an 80.0 GB Ultra ATA/66 hard drive (5400 RPM), a tray-loading "SuperDrive", and NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM (AGP 2X support).

The internal components are contained within an appealing 10.6-inch half-sphere, ice-white case, featuring a chromed stainless steel neck that holds a 17" TFT Active Matrix LCD display. This model was supplied with both MacOS X 10.1 and MacOS 9.2 installed, with MacOS X set as the default. It also included an ice-white Apple Pro Keyboard, Mouse, and Speakers. In contrast to earlier iMacs that used convection cooling, the "Flat Panel" series is cooled by a quiet internal fan.

This model, the first iMac G4 to feature a 17-inch widescreen display, captivated users with its expansive workspace. The faster 800 MHz G4 processor and more powerful NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics provided ample power to comfortably utilize the large screen. The inclusion of a SuperDrive, enabling not just DVD playback but also creation, significantly enhanced its value as a multimedia machine.
