MacBook Pro Late 2016 13"

The MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.0 13-Inch (Late 2016 Retina Display, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports) is powered by a 14 nm, 6th Generation "Skylake" 2.0 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor (6360U). This CPU has dual independent cores on a single silicon chip, a 4 MB shared level 3 cache, and 8 GB of onboard 1866 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM, which was upgradeable to 16 GB only at the time of purchase. It also includes 256 GB of removable PCIe-based flash storage and an integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 processor that shares system memory.

This notebook features an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a slim, backlit "second generation" butterfly mechanism keyboard, a very large "Force Touch" trackpad, and a high-resolution 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi, 500 nits) "Retina" display. An integrated battery provides an estimated 10 hours of use.

Offered in silver or a darker "Space Gray" aluminum, this notebook weighs just over 3 pounds (1.37 kg). Connectivity is comprised of 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, two "Thunderbolt 3" ports (USB-C), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Compared to its predecessor, this model introduces a completely new, thinner external housing available in an additional color, and features a larger trackpad. However, it replaces a variety of ports with just two Thunderbolt 3 ports and a headphone jack. Internally, it boasts a more advanced processor, architecture, and graphics, along with better audio, but at the cost of reduced battery life.

The non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro, introduced in late 2016, debuted a completely new, thinner, and lighter chassis design. Performance saw a steady improvement with the 6th generation "Skylake" processor and faster PCIe-based flash storage. The significantly larger Force Touch trackpad elevated usability to a new level. However, the consolidation of various legacy ports into just two Thunderbolt 3 ports was a controversial move, as it necessitated the purchase of adapters for many users. The typing experience on the second-generation butterfly keyboard, with its extremely shallow key travel, also proved to be a divisive feature. While offering a forward-thinking design and capable performance, the reduction in ports and the new keyboard design came to define this model's mixed reception.
