The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.7 15-Inch (Mid-2012/USB 3.0) is a build-to-order version of the 2.6-inch or, from Feb 13, 2013, the 2.3-inch models, but is listed separately for clarity. It is identical to the 2.6 15-Inch (Mid-2012) model except for its faster processor and larger L3 cache.
This model is powered by a 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" 2.7 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (3820QM) with four independent cores and an 8 MB shared L3 cache. It includes 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (PC3-12800) in pairs, a 750 GB (5400 RPM) hard drive, an 8X DL SuperDrive, and dual graphics: a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000. It also has an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam.
The standard configuration has an LED-backlit 15.4-inch widescreen "glossy" display (1440x900), with a "high-res" glossy or antiglare 1680x1050 display available for an extra US$100. Connectivity includes AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet, a FireWire "800" port, two USB 3.0 ports, a "Thunderbolt" port, separate audio in/out ports, and an SDXC card slot.
It features a "Unibody" aluminum case, a backlit keyboard, a glass "inertial" multi-touch trackpad, and a non-swappable battery with a 7-hour estimated life. Compared to its predecessor, its exterior is nearly identical apart from the new USB 3.0 ports, while its internal components, including the processor, architecture, graphics, and RAM, are all faster.
