The MacBook Pro "Core i9" 2.3 16-Inch (2019, Scissor Keyboard) is driven by a 14 nm, 9th Generation "Coffee Lake" 2.3 GHz Intel "Core i9" processor (I9-9880H), featuring eight independent cores on a single chip, a 16 MB shared L3 cache, and 16 GB of non-upgradable 2666 MHz DDR4 SDRAM (a 64 GB option was available at purchase). It includes 1 TB of onboard flash storage and dual graphics processors: an AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory and an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 that shares system memory.

Externally, it has a 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a "new Magic Keyboard" with a redesigned scissor mechanism and inverted-T arrow keys, a custom "Touch Bar" with a separate Esc key and "Touch ID" sensor, and a large "Force Touch" trackpad.

It also features a high-resolution 16.0" widescreen 3072x1920 (226 ppi, 500 nits) LED-backlit "Retina" display with True Tone and an adjustable refresh rate, plus a battery with an estimated 11-hour life.

Available in silver or "Space Gray" aluminum, it weighs 4.3 pounds (2.0 kg). Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, four "Thunderbolt 3" ports (USB-C), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Compared to its predecessor, this model offers the same processor but a larger display, faster graphics and RAM, an improved keyboard design with scissor switches and a better layout, higher quality audio systems, and longer battery life.

The 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro was a celebrated return to form for Apple's professional laptops. This standard high-end model, with its 8-core Core i9 processor and AMD Radeon Pro 5500M graphics, delivered robust performance for creative and technical workflows. The most significant and universally praised upgrade was the new 'Magic Keyboard,' which abandoned the flawed butterfly mechanism in favor of a reliable and comfortable scissor-switch design. Other notable improvements included the larger, more immersive 16-inch Retina display with slimmer bezels, a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system, and an improved thermal architecture that allowed for better sustained performance compared to the 15-inch models it replaced.
