The Apple iMac G3/700 Special Edition (Summer 2001) is equipped with a 700 MHz PowerPC 750cx (G3) processor featuring a 256k on-chip level 2 cache. It includes 256 MB of RAM, a 60.0 GB Ultra ATA hard drive, a slot-loading 8X/4X/24X CD-RW drive, and ATI Rage 128 Ultra (AGP 2X) graphics with 16 MB of VRAM. This system, with its Harmon-Kardon sound and Firewire "400" ports, is housed in a translucent "graphite" or "snow" all-in-one chassis with a 15-inch CRT display.
This Special Edition model is similar to the iMac G3/600 (Summer 2001)—both were available in graphite and snow cases—but it came with a faster processor, which was the fastest offered in a CRT-based iMac, and a larger hard drive (60 GB versus 40 GB).
It should be noted that Apple designated this line as the "Summer 2001" series, referencing summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
