iMac PowerPC 750 (G3) 2001

Effectively a re-release of the "Indigo" version of the iMac G3/400 DV (Summer 2000 - Indigo/Ruby), the Apple iMac G3/400 (Early 2001 - Indigo) is powered by a 400 MHz PowerPC 750 (G3) processor. It includes a 512k backside level 2 cache, 64 MB of RAM, a 10.0 GB Ultra ATA hard drive, a 24X slot-loading CD-ROM drive, and ATI Rage 128 Pro (AGP 2X) graphics with 8 MB of VRAM. The system, featuring a Harmon-Kardon sound system and Firewire "400" ports, is housed in a translucent "indigo" all-in-one chassis with a 15-inch CRT display.

This model retailed for US$899, which was US$100 cheaper than the iMac G3/400 DV (Summer 2000 - Indigo/Ruby).

Re-released as a more affordable version of the Summer 2000 DV model by swapping the DVD-ROM for a CD-ROM drive, this iMac became an accessible option for users who needed Firewire ports. The 400 MHz G3 processor provided sufficient performance for standard tasks of the era. It was well-regarded as a balanced machine, suitable as an entry point for DV editing with iMovie and also capable of CD creation. The move to a single, more subdued Indigo color, away from the flashier options, also helped it appeal to a broader audience.
