The Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.33 17-Inch runs on a 2.33 GHz "Core 2 Duo" processor (T7600) with two independent cores. The system is configured with a 4 MB shared "on chip" level 2 cache, a 667 MHz frontside bus, and 2.0 GB of 667 MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM. It includes a 160 GB hard drive with "Sudden Motion Sensor" technology and an 8X dual-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW SuperDrive. Graphics are managed by an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 processor with 256 MB of GDDR3 video memory and dual-link DVI functionality, displayed on a 17-inch widescreen 1680x1050 TFT active-matrix display, with a glossy option available.

Similar to the original 17-inch MacBook Pro, this model incorporates the fiber-optic "ambient light sensor" that automatically adjusts keyboard and screen brightness, a "scrolling TrackPad," the "MagSafe" power connector, a built-in iSight camera, and a bundled Apple Remote. Connectivity options from the original 17-inch model are carried over, including an ExpressCard/34 slot, AirPort Extreme (with 802.11n support via a firmware update in addition to 802.11g), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, a FireWire "400" port, a FireWire "800" port, three USB 2.0 ports, optical digital audio in/out, and a DVI out port.

This 17-inch MacBook Pro, with its large display, further enhanced its desktop replacement capabilities by transitioning to the Core 2 Duo processor.
