MacBook Pro 2019 15" (Touch Bar)

The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.6 15-Inch (2019, Touch Bar) is equipped with a 14 nm, 9th Generation "Coffee Lake" 2.6 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (I7-9750H). This CPU has six independent cores on a single chip, a 12 MB shared level 3 cache, and 16 GB of non-upgradable 2400 MHz DDR4 SDRAM (though a 32 GB option was available at purchase). It comes with 256 GB of onboard flash storage and dual graphics processors: an AMD Radeon Pro 555X with 4 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory and an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 that shares system memory.

Externally, this notebook features an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a revised "third generation" butterfly mechanism keyboard, and a large "Force Touch" trackpad. The keyboard includes an integrated "Touch Bar," a touch-sensitive control that adapts to different applications and provides Touch ID login.

Additionally, it boasts a high-resolution LED-backlit 15.4" widescreen 2880x1800 (220 ppi, 500 nits) "Retina" display with True Tone technology, and an integrated battery offering an Apple-estimated 10 hours of runtime.

This notebook is available in either silver or a darker "Space Gray" aluminum casing and weighs just over 4 pounds (1.83 kg).

For connectivity, it provides 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, four "Thunderbolt 3" ports (using the USB-C connector), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Compared to its predecessor, this model features a faster processor and a modified butterfly keyboard that is said to use different materials to be less prone to errors.

The 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro was a significant iterative update, primarily focused on processing power and addressing keyboard concerns. The move to 9th generation Intel Core i7 processors provided a welcome performance boost for professional users. More notably, it featured the fourth and final revision of the butterfly keyboard, which used new materials in an attempt to improve reliability, a long-standing issue for the design. While an improvement, it still didn't fully win back the trust of all users. The machine retained the powerful graphics options, excellent Retina display, and the controversial Touch Bar from its predecessor. It was seen as a very powerful and capable machine, but one that represented the last gasp of a problematic keyboard design before a major overhaul.
