MacBook Pro 2019 13" (Touch Bar)

The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.8 13-Inch (2019, Touch Bar, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) is a "configure-to-order" version of the 2.4 13-Inch model, also documented separately for clarity. Besides the processor and its L2 cache, these two models are identical.

This model is powered by a 14 nm, 8th Generation "Coffee Lake" 2.8 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (I7-8569U) with four independent cores, 128 MB of eDRAM on the die, and an 8 MB shared L3 cache. It includes 8 GB of non-upgradable onboard 2133 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (a 16 GB option was available at purchase), 256 GB or 512 GB of flash storage, and an integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 processor sharing system memory.

Externally, it has a 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a revised "third generation" butterfly keyboard with an integrated "Touch Bar" that adapts to applications and provides Touch ID login, and a large "Force Touch" trackpad. It also features a high-resolution 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi, 500 nits) "Retina" display with True Tone technology and an integrated battery with an estimated 10-hour runtime.

Available in silver or "Space Gray" aluminum, it weighs just over 3 pounds (1.37 kg). Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, four "Thunderbolt 3" ports (USB-C), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Compared to its predecessor, this model offers a faster processor and a tweaked butterfly keyboard using different materials to be less error-prone.

As the top-tier custom configuration for the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro, this 2.8 GHz Core i7 model represented the absolute peak of performance for that form factor. The quad-core Coffee Lake processor provided a significant speed advantage for demanding applications, making the 13-inch a truly 'Pro' machine. It also featured the fourth-generation butterfly keyboard, updated with new materials in an effort to enhance reliability. While powerful, it shared the line's controversial elements: the Touch Bar and the reliance on four Thunderbolt 3 ports. This configuration was the definitive choice for users who needed maximum 13-inch performance and were willing to pay a premium for it, but it existed in the shadow of the impending shift away from the butterfly keyboard design.
