The iMac "Core 2 Duo" 3.06 27-Inch Aluminum (Late 2009) is equipped with a 3.06 GHz Intel "Core 2 Duo" processor (E7600), featuring two independent cores on a single chip, a 3 MB shared level 2 cache, and a 1066 MHz system bus. It is configured with 4 GB of RAM (1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM), a 1 TB (7200 RPM) hard drive, a vertical slot-loading DVD±R DL "SuperDrive", and ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256 MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory.
This model also includes a built-in iSight video camera and stereo speakers beneath the 27" glossy 16:9 LED-backlit TFT Active Matrix LCD (2560x1440 native) display, which features "IPS technology".
Connectivity options include four USB 2.0 ports, a Firewire "800" port, integrated AirPort Extreme, and Gigabit Ethernet. Its Mini DisplayPort not only supports an external display up to 30" (2560x1600) but also "supports input from external DisplayPort sources" with adapters, allowing it to function as an external display for other devices.
The "Late 2009" iMac series resembles earlier Aluminum iMacs but introduces an "edge-to-edge" glass design and a "seamless all aluminum enclosure," a departure from the previous models that had a modest aluminum border and a plastic back.
Externally, the displays are improved with LED-backlighting and "IPS technology". Internally, all models feature four RAM slots supporting up to 16 GB (a step up from two slots and 8 GB on earlier models), an SD Card slot, and redesigned speakers for "louder, clearer sound with better bass response and less distortion".
The "Late 2009" models came with a compact aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard and the new multi-touch "Magic Mouse," whose "entire top is a seamless multi-touch surface" for gesture-based navigation. A new aluminum remote was also available for an extra US$19.
