The iMac "Core i9" 3.6 27-Inch Aluminum (Retina 5K, 2020/Comet Lake; Radeon Pro 5700/5700 XT) is a "configure-to-order" version of the iMac 27-Inch "Core i7" 3.8 (5K, 2020), also documented as a separate model for clarity. Except for the processor and graphics processor, this model can be configured identically to its standard counterpart, though it has different identifiers.
This iMac features a 14-nm "Comet Lake" 3.9 GHz Intel "Core i9" processor (I9-10910) with ten independent cores on a single chip, a 20 MB shared L3 cache, and a T2 Security Chip. It includes 8 GB of user-upgradable 2666 MHz DDR4 SDRAM, a default 512 GB onboard SSD, and either a Radeon Pro 5700 with 8 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory or a Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory. It also has a 1080p "FaceTime HD" webcam, a studio-quality three-mic array, and stereo speakers.
It sports a 27" 5120x2880 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS DCI-P3 "Retina 5K" display with True Tone technology. The aluminum rear case tapers to a slim 5 mm at the edges. Connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Compared to its predecessor, this model is nearly identical in appearance but features a "True Tone" display (with a US$500 nano-texture option), an improved webcam, speakers, and microphone, and a more advanced processor, architecture, and graphics. By default, "2020" iMacs shipped with a compact aluminum Apple Magic Keyboard and "Magic Mouse 2". Upgrades were available for a "Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad" (US$30) and a "Magic Trackpad 2" (US$50).
