The iMac "Core i9" 3.6 27-Inch Aluminum (Retina 5K, 2020/Comet Lake) is a "configure-to-order" version of either the "Core i5" 3.3 or "Core i7" 3.8 27-Inch models, also documented separately for convenience. Except for the processor and its L3 cache, this model can be configured identically to its standard counterparts and shares the same identifiers.
This iMac features a 14-nm "Comet Lake" 3.6 GHz Intel "Core i9" processor (I9-10910) with ten independent cores on a single chip, a 20 MB shared L3 cache, and a T2 Security Chip. It includes 8 GB of user-upgradable 2666 MHz DDR4 SDRAM, a 512 GB onboard SSD by default, and either a Radeon Pro 5300 with 4 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory or a Radeon Pro 5500 XT with 8 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory. It also has a 1080p "FaceTime HD" webcam, a studio-quality three-mic array, and stereo speakers.
It sports a 27" 5120x2880 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS DCI-P3 "Retina 5K" display with True Tone technology. The aluminum rear case tapers to a slim 5 mm at the edges. Connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Compared to its predecessor, this model is nearly identical in appearance but features a "True Tone" display (with a US$500 nano-texture option), an improved webcam, speakers, and microphone, and a more advanced processor, architecture, and graphics. By default, "2020" iMacs shipped with a compact aluminum Apple Magic Keyboard and "Magic Mouse 2". Upgrades were available for a "Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad" (US$30) and a "Magic Trackpad 2" (US$50).
