The Apple iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 17-Inch (IG), available exclusively to the education market for a brief period, utilizes the same all-in-one chassis as the standard iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 17-Inch. Its most significant difference is the use of more affordable and less powerful Intel GMA 950 "integrated graphics".
This model is powered by a 1.83 GHz Intel "Core Duo" processor (T2400) with two independent cores on a single chip, a 2 MB shared L2 cache, and a 667 MHz system bus. It includes 512 MB of RAM (667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-5300), an 80 GB (7200 RPM) Serial ATA hard drive, a vertical slot-loading DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, and an "Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64 MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory". It also features an integrated iSight camera and stereo speakers positioned beneath the 17" TFT Active Matrix LCD (1440x900 native) display, engineered to "bounce sound off the desk below".
Connectivity consists of three USB 2.0 ports, two Firewire "400" ports, built-in AirPort Extreme, and Gigabit Ethernet, along with a mini-DVI port that supports an external display in "extended desktop" mode, not just "mirrored mode".
