MacBook Pro Retina Mid-2014 13"

The MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.8 13-Inch (Mid-2014 Retina Display) is equipped with a 22 nm "Haswell" 2.8 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor (4308U), featuring dual independent cores on a single chip and a 3 MB shared L3 cache. It includes 8 GB of onboard 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (upgradable to 16 GB at purchase, but not later), 512 GB of PCIe-based flash storage, and an integrated Intel Iris 5100 graphics processor that shares system memory. This model also has an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam and a high-resolution 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi) "Retina" display, housed in a chassis weighing just under 3.5 pounds (1.57 kg). It does not have an internal optical drive.

Connectivity consists of 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, two "Thunderbolt 2" ports, an HDMI port, an audio in/out port, and an SDXC card slot.

Additionally, it features a backlit keyboard, a "no button" glass "inertial" multi-touch trackpad, a "MagSafe 2" power adapter, and a sealed internal battery providing an estimated 9 hours of life. Compared to its predecessor, this model is very similar, but offers a slightly faster processor and has some different identifiers.

The Mid-2014 13-inch MacBook Pro with the 2.8 GHz Core i5 processor was the higher-end stock configuration of an already excellent machine. This iteration was fundamentally a minor speed bump over the Late 2013 model, offering a slightly faster Haswell CPU. While the performance gain was modest, it maintained all the strengths of its predecessor: a brilliant Retina display, outstanding battery life, and the swift performance of PCIe-based flash storage. The design, build quality, and port selection remained identical. It was considered a top-tier ultraportable, but its similarity to the previous year's model meant it wasn't a necessary upgrade for existing users, representing instead a refinement of a winning formula for new buyers.
