The Mac mini "Core i7" 3.0 (Late 2014/Aluminum Unibody) is technically a "configure-to-order" choice for the MGEN2LL/A Mac mini "Core i5" 2.6 and MGEQ2LL/A Mac mini "Core i5" 2.8, but is also documented separately for convenience. Besides the processor and its associated L3 cache, this model can be identical to its standard counterparts.
The Apple Mac mini "Core i7" 3.0 (Late 2014/Aluminum Unibody) has a 22 nm "Haswell" 3.0 GHz Intel "Core i7" (4578U) processor with two independent "cores" on one chip and a 4 MB shared L3 cache. It includes 8 GB of onboard 1600 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (upgradable to 16 GB at purchase but not later), either a 1 TB hard drive or a 1 TB "Fusion Drive" (a 1 TB HDD plus a 128 GB SSD), and an integrated Intel Iris 5100 graphics processor sharing system memory.
Connectivity features two Thunderbolt 2 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n compatible), Bluetooth 4.0, and an SDXC card slot.
Compared to its forerunner, this model looks the same but offers a more advanced architecture, better graphics, Thunderbolt 2, and faster Wi-Fi. On the other hand, its processor has half the cores, it lacks Firewire, its RAM cannot be upgraded, and it no longer supports two 2.5" drives.
All Mac mini systems are sold by default without a display, keyboard, or mouse, but numerous Apple and third-party options are available.
