MacBook Pro Retina Mid-2014 15"

The MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.2 15-Inch (Integrated Graphics/Iris Only - Mid-2014 Retina Display) is powered by a 22 nm "Haswell/Crystalwell" 2.2 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (4770HQ). It has four independent cores on a single chip, a 6 MB shared L3 cache, 16 GB of onboard 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (not upgradable later), and 256 GB of PCIe-based flash storage. Graphics are handled by an integrated Intel Iris 5200 Pro processor with 128 MB of "Crystalwell" embedded DRAM and shared system memory. It also includes an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam and a high-resolution 15.4-inch LED-backlit widescreen 2880x1800 (220 ppi) "Retina" display, all in a chassis weighing just under 4.5 pounds (2.02 kg). It lacks an internal optical drive.

In addition, this model features a backlit keyboard, a "no button" glass "inertial" multi-touch trackpad, a "MagSafe 2" power adapter, and a sealed internal battery providing an estimated 8 hours of life.

Compared to its forerunner, this model is almost identical but has a faster processor, more default RAM, and some different identifiers.

The Mid-2014 15-inch MacBook Pro base model was an iterative update that refined an already strong formula. It received a modest processor speed bump from the Haswell lineup and made 16GB of RAM standard, which was a welcome boost for multitasking and professional applications. The performance of the integrated Iris Pro graphics was respectable for an integrated solution, but it couldn't match the power of the discrete GPU in the higher-end model. Key strengths remained the stunning Retina display, excellent battery life, and fast PCIe storage.
