MacBook Air Early 2014

Initially offered as a "configure-to-order" option for the MacBook Air "Core i5" 1.4 11-Inch (Early 2014/Haswell), the MacBook Air "Core i7" 1.7 11-Inch (Early 2014/Haswell) was later also sold as a standard model. Aside from the processor and its corresponding larger level 3 cache, these two models are identical. For all intents and purposes, this model is also identical to the MacBook Air "Core i7" 1.7 11-Inch (Mid-2013/Haswell) from the previous year.

The Apple MacBook Air "Core i7" 1.7 11-Inch (Early 2014/Haswell) is powered by a 22-nm "Haswell" 1.7 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (4650U) with two independent processor "cores" on a single chip, a 4 MB shared level 3 cache, 4 GB of onboard 1600 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (upgradable to 8 GB at the time of purchase, but not afterward), and a choice of 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of PCIe-based flash storage. The MF067LL/A standard configuration came with 512 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. It also features an "integrated" Intel HD Graphics 5000 processor that shares system memory.

This is all housed in a slim (0.11-0.68 inch), 2.3-pound aluminum case with an integrated 720p "FaceTime HD" webcam, a backlit full-size keyboard, and an 11.6-inch widescreen TFT LED-backlit active-matrix "glossy" display (1366x768 native resolution).

Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, analog audio out, a "Thunderbolt" port, and two USB 3.0 ports.

Essentially a reissue of the top-specced 2013 model, the Early 2014 Core i7 11-inch version offered identical performance with its Haswell processor. Users praised it for being the most powerful and responsive 11-inch laptop available, packing impressive speed into a tiny frame. The all-day battery life remained a key selling point. While there was no reason for 2013 owners to upgrade, this model, often available as a standard configuration later in its life, provided an excellent, high-performance ultraportable option for new buyers who wanted maximum power in the smallest possible package.
