iMac Retina 5K, Late 2015

The iMac "Core i7" 4.0 27-Inch Aluminum (Retina 5K, Late 2015/Skylake) is a "configure-to-order" version of the "Core i5" 3.2 or 3.3 27-Inch models, but is also documented separately for convenience. Except for the processor and its L3 cache, this custom model is identical to its standard counterparts.

This iMac features a 14-nm "Skylake" Quad Core 4.0 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (6700K) with four independent cores on one chip and an 8 MB shared L3 cache. It includes 8 GB of 1867 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (PC3-14900) in a dual-module setup, a 1 TB or 2 TB "Fusion Drive," and an AMD Radeon R9 M390 or M395 graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. It has a built-in "FaceTime HD" webcam and stereo speakers.

It sports a 27" 5120x2880 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS DCI-P3 "Retina 5K" display. The aluminum rear case tapers to a slim 5 mm at the edges. Connectivity consists of four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi (compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n), and Bluetooth 4.0.

Compared to its predecessor, this model shares a nearly identical external design but offers a higher quality DCI-P3 "Retina 5K" display with a wider color gamut and a more advanced architecture and graphics. The "Late 2015" iMacs were shipped with a compact aluminum Apple Magic Keyboard and a choice of a multi-touch "Magic Mouse 2" or a conventional wired Apple mouse. An optional US$50 upgrade to the "Magic Trackpad 2" provided multi-touch and pressure-sensitive "Force Touch" capabilities.

This top-tier build-to-order model, featuring a Skylake Core i7 processor, delivered the ultimate desktop experience when paired with the beautiful DCI-P3 Retina 5K display. [39] The 4.0 GHz quad-core processor, capable of 8-thread processing via Hyper-Threading, handled all professional tasks with speed. [26] The optional AMD Radeon R9 M395X graphics further enhanced its performance. [37] The ease of RAM upgrades and the inclusion of new accessories like the Magic Keyboard 2 and Magic Mouse 2 also contributed to its positive reception.
