The iMac "Core i5" 3.3 27-Inch Aluminum (Mid-2015/Retina 5K) is built with a 22 nm "Haswell" Quad Core 3.3 GHz Intel "Core i5" (4590) processor, featuring four independent cores on a single chip and a 6 MB shared level 3 cache. It comes with 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (PC3-12800) in a dual-module setup, a 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive, and an AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. An integrated "FaceTime HD" webcam and stereo speakers are included, but it lacks an optical drive.
This model sports a 27" 5120x2880 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS display, which Apple named the "Retina 5K". The aluminum rear housing is thicker at its center and tapers to a slim 5 mm at the edges. Connectivity options consist of four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi (backward compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n), and Bluetooth 4.0.
When compared to the earlier Late 2014 models, this version is effectively the same machine but with a slower processor, a less powerful graphics processor, and a standard hard drive instead of the faster "Fusion Drive." The "Mid-2015" iMacs were bundled with a compact aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard and offered a choice of a multi-touch "Magic Mouse," a multi-touch "Magic Trackpad," or a conventional wired Apple mouse.
