Introduced quietly and sold exclusively to educational institutions, the iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.26 20-Inch Aluminum (Mid-2009/Education Only) is powered by a 2.26 GHz Intel "Core 2 Duo" processor. This CPU contains two independent "cores" on a single chip, a 3 MB shared level 2 cache, and a 1066 MHz system bus. It was configured with 1 or 2 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (standardized to 2 GB from May 3, 2011), a 160 GB (7200 RPM) hard drive, and a vertically-mounted slot-loading DVD±R DL "SuperDrive". Graphics are handled by the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, which shares 128 MB of memory with the system. It also includes a built-in iSight camera and stereo speakers beneath the 20" glossy TFT Active Matrix LCD (1680x1050 native) display.
Connectivity options consist of four USB 2.0 ports, a Firewire "800" port, built-in AirPort Extreme, and Gigabit Ethernet, along with a Mini DisplayPort for an external display in "extended desktop" mode. It is important to note that this model lacks internal Bluetooth support.
When compared to the iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 20-Inch (Mid-2009) that it succeeded, this model's primary upgrade is a faster processor; other specs are identical. On May 3, 2011, Apple updated the order number to MC015LL/C and made 2 GB of RAM the standard configuration.
It is also worth noting that while this model was first released in 2010, Apple's documentation commonly refers to it as a "Mid-2009" model.
