The "Early 2007" colored iPod shuffle (Second Generation) models are identical to the original iPod shuffle (Second Generation), with the distinction of being available in new colors: orange, green, blue, and pink, in addition to the original silver. However, all color variants of this iPod shuffle generation shipped with updated earbuds. These were designed to fit in the ear without foam "caps," a design previously seen with the iPod 5th Generation Enhanced and iPod nano 2nd Generation. The packaging was also slightly different, using gray text instead of green.
All iPod shuffle (Second Generation) models feature a very small 1.07-inch tall, 0.98-inch wide, and 0.33-inch deep case with a built-in clip for attaching to clothing. These second-gen models lack the integrated USB port of the first-gen, instead using a headphone jack for audio, music synchronization, and charging via a small USB dock.
Regardless of color, the iPod shuffle 2nd Generation (Colors) models are equipped with 1 GB of flash memory, holding up to 240 songs. Lacking a display, they do not support photo or video playback. Apple estimated a battery life of 12 hours.
