The Apple iPod (Fifth Generation - Enhanced) was a minor update to the previously released iPod (Fifth Generation). It was equipped with a 30 GB or 80 GB 4200 RPM ATA-66 hard drive, capable of holding "up to" 7,500 or 20,000 songs in "128-Kbps AAC format," or "up to 40 hours" or "up to 100 hours" of video, respectively. Both models could store "up to" 25,000 photos.
The two capacities shared a case design with either a white or black front and a chromed stainless steel back. They featured a "2.5-inch (diagonal) color LCD [display] with LED backlight" that was reported to be "up to 60% brighter" than the display on the original Fifth Generation models. Software enhancements included a search function and updated iconography. All Fifth Generation iPods, both original and "enhanced," could play various games like Tetris and Pac Man, available via iTunes. The battery life for the "Enhanced" models was improved for slideshows and video playback, though it remained the same for music playback.
