Overview

It is important to know that this A2161 iPhone 11 Pro Max is compatible with FDD-LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 29, 30, 66, and 71, in addition to TD-LTE bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 46, and 48. It does not support bands 11, 21, 28, or 32. This device is designed for carriers in the United States and Canada but is technically functional with carriers globally.

All iPhone 11 Pro Max models feature a 6.5-inch (diagonal) haptic-touch enabled OLED "Super Retina XDR" display (2688x1242, 458 ppi, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio) that occupies nearly the entire front of the device. It has four cameras. The front-facing "TrueDepth" camera, housed in the "notch," supports "Advanced Face ID," captures 12-megapixel photos, shoots 4K video, and includes software features like Portrait mode. The rear features a triple-camera system with 12-megapixel, 4K-capable cameras: an Ultra Wide (f/2.4 aperture, 120-degree field of view), a Wide (f/1.8 aperture), and a Telephoto (f/2.0 aperture). Like the smaller Pro model, it also adds a Night Mode, improving on the HDR and portrait capabilities of its predecessors.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max uses a stainless steel case with a glass front and back. It is IP68 rated for splash, water, and dust resistance, withstanding depths of up to 4 meters for 30 minutes. It is available in four colors: Gold, "Space Gray," Silver, and "Midnight Green."

Under the hood, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is powered by a 64-bit, 7 nm 2.66 GHz "Apple A13 Bionic" processor with six cores (two performance, four high-efficiency) and a "third-generation Neural Engine." It includes 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of flash storage. Connectivity includes 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2x2 MIMO, Gigabit-class LTE with 2x2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, Ultra Wideband for "spatial awareness," NFC for Apple Pay, "Express Cards with power reserve," and dual SIMs (one hardware nano SIM and one software-based eSIM).

Apple estimates the battery life of the iPhone 11 Pro Max to be "up to" 80 hours of audio playback, 20 hours of video playback, and 12 hours of streamed video. It also supports Qi-compatible "wireless" (inductive) charging.

In the US, this specific iPhone 11 Pro Max initially retailed for US$1099, US$1249, and US$1449 for the 64 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB storage options, respectively. It was also offered by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon for monthly payments starting as low as US$45.79, US$52.04, and US$60.37 with a two-year contract. Trade-in discounts were also available.

Evaluation

The iPhone 11 Pro Max achieved legendary status among tech reviewers for delivering the best battery life ever seen in an iPhone at that time, with professional evaluations consistently reporting exceptional endurance. Professional evaluations consistently reported over 20 hours of video playback and unprecedented all-day performance even under intensive usage scenarios. The large 6.5-inch XDR display combined with the Pro camera system created a compelling package for content creators, while the premium build quality and extensive feature set justified its flagship pricing structure in the premium smartphone segment.
