Overview

Be aware that this A2651 iPhone 14 Pro Max supports 5G NR bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n14, n20, n25, n26, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n53, n66, n70, n71, n77, n78, and n79, as well as 5G NR mmWave bands n258, n260, and n261, which are exclusive to this model. It is designed for carriers in the United States but is technically functional with carriers globally that support eSIM, as it lacks a hardware nano-SIM slot.

Every iPhone 14 Pro Max model features a 6.7-inch (diagonal) haptic-touch "Super Retina XDR display" with ProMotion (2796x1290, 460 ppi, 120Hz refresh rates) that covers almost the entire front. It has four cameras. The front "TrueDepth" camera, located in the "Dynamic Island," supports Face ID, captures 12-megapixel photos, and records 4K video. The rear includes a "Pro camera system" with a 48-megapixel "Main" camera, a 12-megapixel "Ultra Wide" camera, and a 12-megapixel "Telephoto" camera.

In contrast to previous models, the iPhone 14 Pro Max's rear camera system boasts a quad-pixel sensor for better low-light capture, a new "Photonic Engine" for improved computational photography, an "Action mode" for enhanced stability, and an improved "Cinematic mode" with simulated depth of field in 4K (30 fps, 24 fps). It also supports the "ProRes" codec (1080p for the 128 GB model, and 4K for larger capacities).

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is built with a stainless steel case and flat sides, with a glass front and back. The front is protected by a "Ceramic Shield" cover for durability, and the back has an integrated "MagSafe" magnetic charging connection. It is IP68-rated for splash, water, and dust resistance (up to 6 meters for 30 minutes). It is available in four colors: dark "Deep Purple," Silver, Gold, and "Space Black."

Internally, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is powered by a 3.5 GHz "Apple A16 Bionic" processor with a six-core CPU (two performance, four efficiency), a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage. It also supports 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2x2 MIMO, 5G wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, Ultra Wideband for "spatial awareness," NFC for Apple Pay, "Express Cards with power reserve," Crash Detection, Emergency SOS via satellite, and dual eSIMs (it does not support any hardware SIM cards).

Apple's battery life estimates for the iPhone 14 Pro Max are "up to" 95 hours of audio playback, 29 hours of video playback, and 25 hours of streamed video.

In the US, this iPhone 14 Pro Max was initially priced from US$1099, US$1199, US$1399, and US$1599 for the 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB models, respectively. It was also available on a two-year contract for as little as US$45.79, US$49.95, US$58.29, and US$66.62 per month.

Evaluation

The iPhone 14 Pro Max A2651 revolutionized the US professional mobile market as the first major large-screen iPhone to embrace complete eSIM-only connectivity, earning groundbreaking recognition from American technology publications for its bold technological advancement and exceptional professional capabilities. Technology reviewers from publications like The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Technology, and Professional Photographer consistently celebrated the device's comprehensive mmWave 5G implementation across all three major US carrier bands combined with the revolutionary Dynamic Island interface that transformed professional mobile workflows. The exceptional 29-hour video playback capability combined with 4K ProRes recording on the massive 6.7-inch ProMotion display established new industry standards for mobile content creation, while the complete elimination of physical SIM card slots demonstrated Apple's confidence in eSIM technology adoption among US professional users.
