Overview

It is important to know that this A1586 iPhone 6 model has broad network compatibility, supporting FDD-LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, and 29, as well as TD-LTE bands 38, 39, 40, and 41, along with both CDMA EV-DO and GSM connectivity. In the United States, it was sold locked to Sprint or unlocked without a SIM. It was also available unlocked for various carriers in international markets, including the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

This model was initially discontinued on September 7, 2016. However, a 32 GB version was re-launched around February 20, 2017, in China, and later became available in Taiwan, India, the United States, and other regions before being discontinued again around September 12, 2018.

Irrespective of the network, all iPhone 6 models feature a 4.7-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch IPS LED-backlit "Retina HD" display with a 1334x750 resolution (326 ppi). They are equipped with dual cameras: a rear 8-megapixel, 1080p "iSight" camera featuring 1.5-micron pixels, an f/2.2 aperture, and "autofocus with Focus Pixels" (phase detection autofocus), as well as a front-facing 1.2-megapixel, 720p "FaceTime" camera.

Initially, the iPhone 6 was available in three metallic finishes: "silver" with a white front and silver aluminum back; "gold" with a white front and gold aluminum back; and "space" gray with a black front and medium-gray aluminum back. The re-introduced 32 GB model was only offered in gold for China and Taiwan, and in "space" gray for India, Europe, and the US (on Boost Mobile). All models share a "unibody" design with smoothly rounded sides, reminiscent of the 5th Gen iPod touch, and feature a glass front that curves at the edges for a continuous surface. The "Touch ID" fingerprint sensor is embedded in the home button.

This iPhone 6 model runs on a 1.4 GHz 64-bit "Apple A8" processor, is equipped with 1 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and came in storage capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, or 128 GB (the 32 GB option was introduced around February 20, 2017). Connectivity includes 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0/4.2, LTE (4G), and NFC for Apple Pay transactions. It also has a bottom-mounted headphone jack and uses a "Lightning" port for connecting to computers and power adapters.

Apple's battery life specifications for the iPhone 6 are up to 50 hours of audio playback, 14 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of internet use on either 3G or LTE, 11 hours of internet use on Wi-Fi, 11 hours of video playback, and a standby time of 250 hours.

In the US, this A1586 iPhone 6 was initially offered with 16 GB, 64 GB, or 128 GB of storage for US$199, US$299, or US$399, respectively, with a two-year Sprint contract. The factory unlocked, contract-free versions were priced at US$649, US$749, and US$849 for the same capacities. On September 9, 2015, Apple retired the gold color and 128 GB storage options and reduced the prices for the remaining 16 GB and 64 GB models in silver and space gray to US$99 and US$199 with a contract, or US$549 and US$649 unlocked and contract-free. Various other carrier-subsidized and leasing plans were also available.
