Overview

Be aware that this A2484 iPhone 13 Pro Max supports 5G NR bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n71, n77, n78, and n79, as well as 5G NR mmWave bands n258, n260, and n261. This device is intended for carriers in the United States but is technically functional with carriers globally.

All iPhone 13 Pro Max models are equipped with a 6.7-inch (diagonal) haptic-touch enabled "Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion" (2778x1284, 458 ppi, 120Hz refresh rates) that covers almost the entire front. It has four cameras. The front-facing "TrueDepth" camera, housed in the "notch," supports Face ID, captures 12-megapixel photos, and records 4K video. The rear includes a 4K-capable "pro 12 megapixel camera system" with Telephoto (f/2.8), Wide (f/1.5), and Ultra Wide (f/1.8, 120-degree field of view) lenses.

Compared to its predecessors, the iPhone 13 Pro Max's rear camera system features larger sensors that deliver reduced noise, faster shutter speeds, and improved low-light performance, while also adding macro support. It also includes "Sensor-shift OIS" for better image stabilization. These cameras also support a new "Cinematic mode" with a simulated depth effect (1080p, 30 fps) and "ProRes" codec compatibility (1080p at 30 fps for the 128 GB model, and 4K at 30 fps for larger capacities).

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a stainless steel case with flat sides and a glass front and back. The front is protected by a "Ceramic Shield" cover for durability, and the back includes an integrated "MagSafe" magnetic charging connection. It is IP68-rated for splash, water, and dust resistance (up to 6 meters for 30 minutes). Initially offered in four colors—graphite, gold, silver, and "Sierra Blue"—a fifth color, "Alpine Green," was added on March 8, 2022.

Internally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is driven by a 3.2 GHz "Apple A15 Bionic" processor with a six-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage. It also supports 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2x2 MIMO, 5G wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, Ultra Wideband for "spatial awareness," NFC for Apple Pay, "Express Cards with power reserve," and dual SIMs (one physical nano SIM and one software-based eSIM or dual eSIMs).

Apple's battery life estimates for the iPhone 13 Pro Max are "up to" 95 hours of audio playback, 28 hours of video playback, and 25 hours of streamed video.

In the US, this iPhone 13 Pro Max was initially priced at US$1099, US$1199, US$1399, and US$1599 for the 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB models, respectively. It was also available on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon for monthly payments starting as low as US$45.79, US$49.95, US$58.29, and US$66.62 with a two-year contract. Trade-in discounts were also available. This model was discontinued on September 7, 2022.

Evaluation

The iPhone 13 Pro Max A2484 distinguished itself as the ultimate flagship for US consumers, earning exceptional praise from technology publications for being the first iPhone to support mmWave 5G exclusively in the American market. Professional reviews from The Verge, CNET, and Tom's Guide consistently highlighted its groundbreaking battery performance, delivering unprecedented 28-hour video playback capabilities that redefined endurance expectations for premium smartphones. The exclusive US mmWave implementation provided lightning-fast download speeds in major metropolitan areas, while the massive 6.7-inch ProMotion display with 120Hz refresh rate became the benchmark for mobile content creation and consumption.
