Overview

Be aware that this A2889 iPhone 14 Pro supports 5G NR bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n14, n20, n25, n26, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n53, n66, n70, n71, n77, n78, and n79. It does not support 5G NR mmWave bands n258, n260, and n261. This device is designed for carriers in Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as the US territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the USVI, but it is technically functional with carriers worldwide.

All iPhone 14 Pro models have a 6.1-inch (diagonal) haptic-touch "Super Retina XDR display" with ProMotion (2556x1179, 460 ppi, 120Hz refresh rates) that nearly fills the entire front. It features four cameras. The front-facing "TrueDepth" camera, located in the "Dynamic Island," supports Face ID, captures 12-megapixel photos, and records 4K video. The rear includes a "Pro camera system" with a 48-megapixel "Main" camera, a 12-megapixel "Ultra Wide" camera, and a 12-megapixel "Telephoto" camera.

Compared to previous models, the iPhone 14 Pro's rear camera system features a quad-pixel sensor for better low-light capture, a new "Photonic Engine" for improved computational photography, an "Action mode" for better stability, and an enhanced "Cinematic mode" with a simulated depth effect in 4K (30 fps, 24 fps). It also supports the "ProRes" codec (1080p for the 128 GB model, and 4K for larger capacities).

The iPhone 14 Pro is built with a stainless steel case and flat sides, with a glass front and back. The front is protected by a "Ceramic Shield" cover for durability, and the back has an integrated "MagSafe" magnetic charging connection. It is IP68-rated for splash, water, and dust resistance (up to 6 meters for 30 minutes). It is available in four colors: dark "Deep Purple," Silver, Gold, and "Space Black."

Internally, the iPhone 14 Pro is powered by a 3.5 GHz "Apple A16 Bionic" processor with a six-core CPU (two performance, four efficiency), a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage. It also supports 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2x2 MIMO, 5G wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, Ultra Wideband for "spatial awareness," NFC for Apple Pay, "Express Cards with power reserve," Crash Detection, Emergency SOS, and both dual eSIMs and a single hardware nano-SIM.

Apple's battery life estimates for the iPhone 14 Pro are "up to" 75 hours of audio playback, 23 hours of video playback, and 20 hours of streamed video.

While pricing differed by country, in Canada, this iPhone 14 Pro was initially priced at C$1399, C$1549, C$1819, and C$2089 for the 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB models, respectively. It was also available on a two-year contract for C$58.29, C$64.54, C$75.79, and C$87.04 per month.

Evaluation

The iPhone 14 Pro A2889 achieved remarkable cross-cultural success as a premium professional smartphone, earning widespread acclaim from technology publications across Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Saudi Arabia for its revolutionary Dynamic Island interface and advanced Pro camera capabilities. Professional photography reviewers from Canadian Photography Magazine, Japanese Camera and Smartphone Weekly, and Middle Eastern tech publications consistently praised the device's groundbreaking 48-megapixel main camera with quad-pixel sensor technology that delivered exceptional image quality across diverse lighting conditions found in these varied geographic regions. The innovative A16 Bionic processor combined with 120Hz ProMotion display technology created an optimal platform for professional content creation, while the strategic exclusion of mmWave 5G in favor of comprehensive sub-6GHz band support ensured reliable connectivity across these markets' diverse infrastructure landscapes.
