Overview

It's important to know that this A2595 iPhone SE (3rd Gen) supports 5G NR bands n1-n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n71, and n77-n79; FDD-LTE bands 1-5, 7, 8, 12-14, 17-20, 25, 26, 28-30, 32, 66, and 71; and TD-LTE bands 34, 38-42, 46, and 48. It lacks compatibility with LTE bands 11 or 21 and 5G NR mmWave. This model was intended for nearly all carriers in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, and is technically compatible with networks globally.

All iPhone SE (3rd Gen) models have a 4.7-inch widescreen multitouch "True Tone" LED-backlit 1334x750 "Retina HD" display (326 ppi, 625 cd/m2) and a solid-state, taptic-engine-powered "clickless" Home button. The device has a rear 12MP 4K camera with OIS, an f/1.8 aperture, and computational photography features like Smart HDR 4 and Portrait mode, plus a front 7MP camera for 1080p video. Both cameras support motion tracking and AR.

The iPhone SE (3rd Gen) features a glass front and back with an "aerospace-grade" aluminum alloy case. It is IP67-rated for splash, water, and dust resistance (not waterproof) and has stereo speakers and a Lightning port. Color options include Starlight (warm gray), "Midnight" (black), and (PRODUCT) RED.

Internally, it is powered by a 3.2 GHz six-core "Apple A15 Bionic" processor with a 16-core Neural Engine. It has 4 GB of RAM and 64, 128, or 256 GB of storage. It supports 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2x2 MIMO, 5G (sub-6 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for Apple Pay, "Express Cards with power reserve," and Dual SIM (one physical nano SIM and one eSIM).

Apple estimates up to 50 hours of audio, 15 hours of video, and 10 hours of streamed video playback. It also supports Qi-standard wireless charging.

In the US, this iPhone SE (3rd Gen) was sold unlocked and contract-free for US$429 (64 GB), US$479 (128 GB), and US$579 (256 GB). On contract with major carriers, it was available for as little as US$17.87, US$19.95, and US$24.12 per month, respectively. Trade-in discounts were also offered.

Evaluation

The North American iPhone SE (2022) garnered mixed but generally positive reviews from technology critics who appreciated its 5G implementation and powerful A15 Bionic processor while questioning the unchanged design philosophy. Professional reviewers acknowledged the device's impressive benchmark performance and future-proofing through modern connectivity, though many expressed desire for design evolution to match the internal upgrades. The model's ability to deliver console-quality gaming and professional-grade video capabilities at its price point particularly impressed performance-focused reviewers. Market analysts viewed this iteration as a conservative but commercially sound approach to maintaining Apple's presence in the value segment while technology enthusiasts debated whether greater design risks might have expanded its appeal.
